OCTOBER 2011
Hi, everyone!
Did all of you get lots of sewing done in September (National Sewing Month)? I got a few samples made and have been testing the
new t-shirt pattern which should be available within the next couple months. It's called "T-Shirt Trifecta" and features three fun and
easy-to-wear tops. Two views have pockets and any sleeve can be used for any view. Here is a line drawing sneak peak:

We had a great group at our Fall Sew Inn. All of the ladies made lovely jackets, vests or skirts. Several worked on multiple projects
and we were amazed at all they managed to get done. Take a look at our blog
to see pictures. Why don't you join us at next year's retreat? Details will be on the website soon.
If you have never attended the Sewing & Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, Washington, here is your
chance! The show will be held March 1-4, 2012. We are offering a
Sew Many Options Tour
to the show. The bus will depart from Portland, Oregon and drive you the 2 1/2 hours to Puyallup for two days of shopping and
classes. Your hotel, two breakfasts, one dinner and all transportation are all included, plus you will travel with a group of like-minded
sewing enthusiasts. You can fly into Portland and visit the largest sewing show in the US.
Sew on and sew forth,
Marsha

OCTOBER TRAVEL TIPS
Makeup Tips While Traveling
When packing makeup for your trip, think about the items you actually use. Honestly, if you never use that cute turquoise liner at home,
are you really going to use it in Singapore? Bring the basics in compact form - a good foundation (especially in a compact), a stick
or powder eyeshadow, a lipstick, and a highlighter is about all you really need. For those who may not know what a highlighter is, it's a
shimmery substance, which comes in either stick, gel or powder form in silver, gold or bronze, and is used to give you that "holiday
glow" when you don't want to wear full makeup. Blend it around the cheekbones, brow bones and eye sockets. Also, remember your skin doesn't
change when you're on a trip - you'll still need your cleanser, toner and moisturizer. You should probably skip exfoliation. You're likely
to be stressed from travel and using a mechanical exfoliant can only stress your skin further.
To instantly calm down static-electric flyaway hair, slide a dry fabric softener sheet over it.
Don't worry about losing your good hair bands. Use a bread bag tie to hold them together so you don't have to worry about losing any of
them while traveling.
When visiting department stores, stop by the cosmetics counters and ask for samples. Keep all your free "beauty goodies" in a Ziploc
bag. When packing for a trip, take along your bag. While relaxing at the hotel or working on your laptop, take advantage and try that
new special mask or the new deep hair conditioning treatment. Small indulgences like this make your trip extra special!
Dry Facial Cleansing Cloths. Oil of Olay Daily Facials cleansing cloths are wonderful! They are dry and you can put as many of
these practically weightless squares as you need in a re-closeable plastic bag. They remove makeup, cleanse, and moisturize without taking
separate cleansers, makeup removers, washcloths, etc. Just wet one, lather and wash, and then throw it away! Often I cut them in half and
get twice as many for my trips.
Remember the 3-1-1 rule when going through airport security - 3 oz bottles or smaller, 1 quart-sized clear Ziploc bag, and
1 bag per passenger placed in the screening bin.
